Writers! – I’m thrilled to let you know that I’m a finalist in the Write Michigan short story contest! My sci-fi short, “Archived,” was chosen to be in the top ten finalists out of over 250 entries. Two first place awards will be given: an award determined by a panel of judges, and a “Reader’s Choice” award determined by a public vote. So…
I’m asking you to please consider reading my story and voting for it here.
I hope it’s not too self-interested of me to ask this of you on the Jot blog. My friends in the Weaklings encouraged me too, so I guess it’s okay. 😉
Winners will be announced on February 1st, 2013. Between now and then readers can read all ten stories online and vote for a winner. You can vote once per week, per device. That means in one week you can vote on your smartphone, on your work computer, on your iPad, on your home computer – whatever. And then during the next week you can do it all over again.
Thanks very much for any time you spend considering this, reading the story, and/or voting. I’ve been overwhelmed by the support I’ve received from friends and family. It’s been a humbling and wonderful thing to know that so many of my acquaintances and friends have read my work.
I also owe a huge debt of thanks to my great friends in The Weaklings. I was with them when I drafted this story a few years back. And another big “Thank You!” to my good friend and Zondervan colleague, Brian Phipps, who read an early draft of the story and made extremely helpful comments on how to improve it.
See you at Jot!
